Das kommende Crave TV-Drama über die legendäre Romanze zwischen Leonard Cohen und seiner Muse Marianne Ihlen hat seine Hauptdarsteller gefunden. Die Produzenten von So Long, Marianne, sagen, dass sie den US-Schauspieler Alex Wolff für die Rolle des Cohen und die norwegische Schauspielerin Thea Sofie Loch Naess als Ihlen gecastet haben. Die Serie erinnert an eine Zeit in den 1960er Jahren, als sich die beiden – beide Anfang 20 – auf der griechischen Insel Hydra kennenlernten. Sie inspirierte schließlich den Song So Long, Marianne, der 1967 auf Cohens Debütalbum „Songs of Leonard Cohen“ erschien.

Crave und der norwegische Co-Produzent NRK sagen, dass die Dreharbeiten für die Serie am 24. März 2023 begonnen haben und sie in Montreal, Hydra und Oslo gedreht wurde. So Long, Marianne ist eine kanadisch-norwegische romantische Drama-Fernsehserie, die 2024 Premiere feiern soll. Die Serie ist eine Dramatisierung der Romanze zwischen dem kanadischen Schriftsteller und Musiker Leonard Cohen und Marianne Ihlen, der Norwegerin, die Cohen zu seinem Song „So Long, Marianne“ inspirierte, in den 1960er Jahren. In den Hauptrollen sind Alex Wolff als Cohen und Thea Sofie Loch Næss als Ihlen sowie Anna Torv als Charmian Clift, Noah Taylor als George Johnston und Peter Stormare als Irving Layton zu sehen.Zu den Nebendarstellern gehören Macha Grenon als Cohens Mutter, Éric Bruneau als Cohens Cousin Robert Hershorn und Kim Lévesque Lizotte als Monique Mercure sowie Robin L’Houmeau.  In Nebenrollen sind Raphael Grosz-Harvey, Miranda Calderon, Tatiana Latreille, Ryan Bommarito, Emily Lê, Frank Fontaine, Christina Bennington, Megan Jonker, Sonia Berube, Rob Stewart, Chip Chuipka, Howard Bilerman, Avi Bendahan und Patrick Watson zu sehen.

The series is slated to screen in competition at the Series Mania television festival, with its broadcast premiere date still to be announced.
